WHERE WILDERNESS MEETS THE OCEAN

Kanon Private Nature Reserve

A commissioned lifestyle photography project capturing the experience of a protected coastal reserve where luxury and nature exist in quiet harmony.

Destination

Understanding the landscape before creating the imagery that represents it.

Lifestyle

Capturing genuine moments that reflect the experience of being immersed in nature.

Connection

Revealing the relationship between people, place and the landscapes that leave a lasting impression.

Some places are shaped by the meeting of land and sea.

Set within 187 hectares of protected coastal wilderness with more than three kilometres of pristine shoreline, Kanon Private Nature Reserve offers a rare sense of space where contemporary hospitality is immersed in nature. Here, the landscape is not simply the backdrop to the experience; it is the experience itself.

Commissioned to create a lifestyle photography collection, my role was to document the relationship between guests and this remarkable setting. Through an observational approach, the imagery captures moments of connection, revealing the quiet rhythm of a destination where wilderness, ocean and architecture exist in harmony.

The resulting body of work was subsequently featured in a regional lifestyle publication, extending the story of the reserve to a wider audience through editorial photography.

From above, the dry-stone walls of these tidal fish traps reveal their pattern most clearly, built to fill with each high tide and hold what the sea leaves behind. A quiet, ingenious way of working with the sea rather than against it.Hasselblad | ISO-100 | f/2.8 | 1/320 sec. | 24mm
